In this thrilling project, I led the development and implementation of the e-commerce platform for Monticello. The challenge was clear: transform the vision of the honey farm into an engaging and functional digital experience. The platform, accessible at www.monticello.com.do, was built on the robust foundation of PrestaShop.
Custom Design and Front-end Development:
Starting from a design supplied through Figma, I embarked on creating a custom template using HTML and CSS. The goal was not only to translate the visual design but also to ensure a smooth and attractive user experience.
Custom Logistics Module with MBE:
As the Team Lead, I took a pivotal role in guiding our collaborative efforts through the Scrum framework, ensuring an iterative and dynamic development process. Leveraging Jira for project management, I structured tasks, set priorities, and fostered transparent communication within the team. Our agile approach, marked by regular sprint planning and retrospectives, allowed us to swiftly adapt to challenges and capitalize on emerging opportunities.
The development of the Custom Logistics Module for PrestaShop, a critical project element, was a testament to our structured collaboration. Through iterative development, we addressed logistical intricacies and seamlessly integrated the module with the MBE system. This approach not only streamlined our development process but also cultivated a culture of adaptability and continuous improvement within the team.
Overcoming Technical Challenges:
During the process, we faced the technical challenge of PHP’s asynchrony, especially in real-time order status updates. To address this, we devised an innovative solution: the creation of a microservices platform. This system acts as an intermediary between the website and the MBE platform, not only solving the current issue but also providing a valuable tool for future projects.
Results:
By the project’s conclusion, we successfully created a fully automated e-commerce platform. Monticello now operates on a model where the customer only needs to send their stock to the distribution center; all logistics and payment management are efficiently handled through third-party services.
This experience not only elevated Monticello’s digital presence but also left a versatile tool that we continue to implement in other projects, marking a significant milestone in our development portfolio.
